Henley Stone Company Offices
Posted to Facebook History of the Peavine Group Page February 11, 2019 by Chad Fannin.

This information from 1898 may help tell the story of this stone quarry siding. The Henley Stone Co. owned by R.R. Pebbles & Co operated there around the turn of the century. Notice on the map most the property is owned by Pebbles. Here’s were I get lost without going into a lot of research, Wellman Stone Co. perhaps the name after the above company like on your map of 1903 maybe took over Henley Stone. Also the siding runs onto Reitz property. The Reitz Stone Company was a big stone company in Portsmouth that brought the quarried stone into town to be sawed into shapes and thickness. So how that plays into this is unknown to me right now. Reitz had a huge quarry on Carry’s Run in West Portsmouth. Needs some research. -Chad
