Steam Engine At Rarden
Picture posted to facebook by Chad Fannin on April 9, 2021. Description from post.

Undated photo taken at Rarden Depot of George Motes, station attendant on the left and possibly E.J. Brubaker both sitting on the front pilot, Charles Ryan the locomotives fireman is standing to the right. Motes and Brubaker held several patents for railway devices in 1915 and 16. One was a motor for a crossing alarm. Another one was a mailbag receiving device in 1916. The locomotive looks to be a W2 class 2-8-0, a very popular design with the N&W Railway starting in 1902. They started being phased out of service in the 20’s but a few made it until the 1950’s. Copy photo from the collection of Ruth Mecum, Otway.
