Construction Update: Helis, Portsmouth Staging and the Hillsboro Branch
After a couple of years of dedicated work on the layout, I decided it was time to record what I've been working on. This video features an update on the helix, the Portsmouth staging yard and the shelf for the Hillsboro banch. The helix was by far the most challenging and concerning design effort on the layout. The first half of this video is dedicated to discussion some of the design considerations and sharing how the helix was built. I move on to Portsmouth staging next. The track is laid in this video, so you can see exactly how the yard will exist when I finally reach full operation. The Hillsboro branch sits on top of Portsmouth staging. And while nothing more than a shelf at this point, you will see how easily it fits in place over Portsmouth staging and how much space I have to model an out and back branch line.
