Purina
Purina a new industry on the real Peavine. As of 2023, it is still being built. Which means my model is ahead of the prototype because I can switch Purina now.

The Purina Chows building in the foreground is an old cardstock kit. I remember seeing it as a kit and always being drawn to its colorful appearnace. As I looked for it for my layout, I soon found this is a hard to find kit, presumably no long manufactured. Frankly I was stunned to open the box and find out it was mostly paper. Explains why you son't see many today.

I actually cut styrene to match all the cardstock pieces. So this kit does have a plastic skeleton now. The porch and loading dock were left overs from other kits, and fit this building nicely.

In the story of the Western Ohio, Purina Chows as a agricuture store on the outskirts of Williamsburg. When Nestle - Purina decided to built a new plant, they were able to acquire the land next to this store. So as part of the promotion of the new plant, they actualy fixed up the store and continue to operate it today.

The Purina Chows building and the larger Purina factory in the background bridge the gap between Afton and Williamsburg. In real life, there are two or three miles between locations. But on a model railroad where space is tight, this makes a fairly seemless link between the two locations without trying to force a separation.
