The Tailgaters Fantasy Football Hall of Fame welcomes three new NFL stars in 2023. Two of the three played much of their career prior to the formation of the TFFL in 1995. But they did overlap with the TFFL at the end of their career, where both were stars in the new fantasy league. The third played his entire career in the TFFL, and was a standout at his position.

Normally Hall of Fame week is during the preseason. The illness and subsequent passing of my dad this preseason kept me too busy and uninterested to do the HOF work this year. So I move the Hall of Fame weekend to Thanksgiving week, where we celebrate it now.

Hall of Fame ceremonies (where ceremony = an article) will take place over four days this year.
Thursday will be the All Time Hall of Fame induction. That will follow in this article below.
Friday will be the NFL Player Induction to the TFFL Hall of Fame.
Saturday will be the announcement of the All 25 Seasons Team
Sunday will be the induction of one new owner and one new team to the TFFL Hall of Fame.

Without further adieu, here is the 2023 TFFL All Time Hall of Fame Class.

John Elway
John Elway is a name very familiar to all football fans. He was one of the elite quarterbacks in the eighties and nineties, during an era with many great quarterbacks. His NFL career ran until 1998, meaning he was a star quarterback in the first four years of the TFFL. He cemented his legacy with two Super Bowl championships at the end of the 1997 and 1998 seasons. John Elway was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

Elway ranks eleventh in total fantasy points scored over his career with 4397. His best seasons in the TFFL were the 1995 and 1996 seasons, where he scored 338 fantasy points each year. 1995 TFFL team rosters have been lost to history, but in 1996 Elway earned all those points for Riley’s Rippers.

Ricky Watters
Far less heralded than John Elway was Ricky Watters. Like Elway, waters career started before the TFFL. But more of his career ran into the TFFL years, as he finished playing in 2001. His NFL career saw him play with three teams, but he most notably played for the Philadelphia Eagles between 1995 and 1997.

Rickys best fantasy season was in 1996. As a member of Dans Destroyers, he accumulated 263 fantasy points on 1400 yards rushing, 400 plus yards receiving and thirteen touchdowns. That particular Destroyers team won their first twelve games of the season, which still stands as the second longest winning streak in league history.

Jason Witten
Jason Witten played most of his career for the Dallas Cowboys. Most NFL fans probably forget about his single season at the end of his career, after broadcasting football for a season and returning to Dallas, with the Las Vegas Raiders. But Witten was a solid, steady performer at the tight end position. His entire career was played during TFFL years, minus the dark years from 2006-2009. Only retired from the NFL since 2020, he is not yet eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Wittens best season was in 2007. Unfortunately that falls in the four year period the TFFL did not play. His next best season was in 2010, the great return season. He was a member of Dans Destroyers, who went on that season to become the first team in TFFL history to win three championships.

Congratulations to all three NFL greats inducted into our humble Hall of Fame. Come back tomorrow for the induction announcement of the NFL players to the TFFL Hall of Fame.
