Don’t go winning Team of the Week against your humble commish. Its not nice. Its not polite. And it forces me to squeeze out a couple nice words about you when I’m really upset with you.

Steel City FooBall broke this rule this week. FooBall goes off and scores 134 points, topping the Scammers 117 points when the Scammers 117 points was the second best score in the BMFFL league. Would have beaten any other team. And that was with Baker Mayfield at quarterback. That’s like the fantasy equivalent of playing with one hand tied behind your back. Bah Humbug!.

FooBall did get 44 points from Jalen Hurts. Kyren Williams and Raheem Mostert added 32 and 21. FooBall is now 8-4, in first place in the Halas division and now within one game of the Scammers for the number one overall seed. Hope you are happy with yourself, FooBall. On a side note, FooBall did become the first team to win two TOWs this year, and the BMFFL is now tied with the EWFFL for TOWs.

At least Jalen Hurts didn’t get Player of the Week. That went to Rimski’s Raiders Josh Allen, who had 45. The Raiders needed those points to knock off the Baloony Boiz and keep their post season dreams alive. The Raiders are now 5-7, and we’ll check out where they stand in the playoff race below.

A couple of playoff bubble teams may have dealt death blows to teams chasing them. Grande Fantasmas are back to .500 after a 106-86 win over Sea Breeze. No great single performance, but six different players scored in double digits for Fantasmas. The loss drops Sea Breeze to 3-9 and potentially already eliminated from the playoffs.

Similarly, the Ohio State Buckeyes faired better than the real Ohio State Buckeye, beating the Cincinnati Eagles 104-92. That also gets the Buckeyes back to 6-6. CJ Stroud continues to be the best rookie in the league. He had 34. The loss leaves the Eagles is bad place at 4-8.

Gritz Blitz won a matchup of 7-4 teams entering week twelve, beating the Old England Patriots 98-79. Bot these teams are playoff safe, but trying to lock up division titles. The Patriots fall behind FooBall with the loss, while the Falcons rest atop the Lombardi division. Christian McCaffrey was the top performer in this game with 25.

Prestige Worldwide strengthened their playoff case with a 95-71 win over the Willow Run Flyers. The Dolphins defense was the start of the game. They scored 22 against the Jets… wait a minute, the Jets, that point total should be discounted by some percentage. Now at 5-7, Worldwide is probably right around the cut line. The Flyers should be safe at 7-5.

PLAYOFF PICTURE The second of three playoff picture updates. Here we go. If the playoffs started today, the brackets would be.

BEERCATS ON VERGE OF BAD HISTORY
The Beercats won Team of the Week in the Edison Works Fantasy League. They beat Down the Drain 130-101. But that is not the story. The Beercats are now the top scoring team in the league. And they are outside the playoff picture. Doesn’t seem fair. But it is fact right now.

The Beercats won this behind the one-two-three punch of Trevor Lawrence, Christian McCaffrey and Isiah Pacheco. They scored 28, 25 and 20 respectively. I’m not convince the Beercats are going to miss the playoffs, and if they get in they are a dangerous team. But for the highest scoring team to be outside the playoffs this late in the season is rare.

The player of the week was again Josh Allen. Taco Corp kept their playoff hopes alive by officially extinguishing Transformation Worldwide playoff hopes. I suspect Transformation will find that merciful. Taco Corp won 128-98. I’ll update where Taco Corp is below.

Back to the first game in the EWFFL, the reason the Beercats are still outside the playoffs right now is because the Scammers pulled off the narrow upset of the Rally Possums 89-84 in the best game of the week (FooBall could take some notes). The Scammers got just enough from Joshua Dobbs on Monday night to eke out the win. For the Possums, the loss was somewhat costly as they fall ingot a tie for first in their division, but officially are second place now.

That’s because The Dak Night Rises, and puts the “DOWN” in Shakedown. Dak Prescott scored 40 to lead all players in this game. As I mentioned, The Dak Knight is now in first place in the Landry division. Shakedown has lost four in a row, is no longer the top scoring team in the league. They’re starting to look like a wounded animal heading into the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Happy took advantage of the Drain’s loss to move back into first in the Shula division. Yeah, they are technically tied, but Happy has the points advantage. Happy won with a balanced attack getting no more than 16 from top scorer Lamar Jackson to drop Bane 93-83.

Momball might be joining Transformation Worldwide on the official outside looking in. Joanne is the latest team to hand Momball an “L” with a 121-92 decision. Jalen Hurts had 44 for Joanne. Joanne is currently in second place in the Noll division.

PLAYOFF PICTURE If the season ended today in the EWFFL, here are the matchups.

TRANSFORMATION and MOMBALL
Are mathematically eliminated

SUPER SURVIVOR
Our three remaining survivors went to battle this week. Steel City FooBall erased all doubt about their fate by winning Team of the Week. FooBall is in the final. So what about the Dak Knight and Down the Drain.

Both teams scored in the hundreds. So there is no shame there. But Down the Drain comes up just short against the Dak Knight. Down the Drain is flushed. The Dak Knight Rises and Steel City FooBall will go head to head across the leagues for the Survivor title. And since they are from different leagues, it is fair to call them their own league Survivor Champion.

PLEASE KEEP PLAYING As teams start to get eliminated, I do ask that you keep setting an honest lineup. Your effort can effect other teams. You are still OK to make free agent moves. Trades will be very heavily scrutinized, not to mention the trade deadline has to be soon if it hasn’t already passed. I’ve had teams eliminated early, I know what a bummer it is. Just hang in their for a couple more weeks.

GAME OF THE WEEK

I’m doing two. Just because I can. I just can’t turn either of these games down.

In the Brilliant League, we have our first near elimination game. Both the Baloony Boiz and Cincinnati Eagles are in a lose and you could be eliminated position. And they play each other this week. So one of them will keep hope alive. One of them will have to watch the scoreboard. Its not a good place to be.

And it like a super bowl quarterback matchup from the 1970s. The Steelers QB versus the Cowboys QB. That’s about the end of the comparison. Dak Prescott is a respectable NFL quarterback capable of putting up decent fantasy points. He’ll play for the Eagles. Kenny Pickett is not a respectable NFL QB, and rarely puts up decent fantasy points. He plays for the Boiz. I like the Eagles chances.

And the game that really wets my whistle. These two teams have battle back and forth all season. They now find themselves tied for the best record in the league. And it won’t be good enough for one of them. They are tied for first in the Landry division at 9-3. This week the Rally Possums and The Dak Knight Rises will decide who has the upper hand heading into the final week of the season.

Neither can clinch the division. But the loser will need help next week. Dak Prescott pull Game of the Week Double Duty, suiting up for the Dak Knight. CJ Stroud or Justin Herbert will take the ball for the Possums. This should be a really good game this week.
